TS packet filter add unexpected sequence...
« am: Juni 04, 2014, 14:06:12 »
Hi,
It is the second time that I observe a strange behaviour :  After having created an X_fixed.ts file wich presents errors ( video and/or audio), I used the tool " TS packet filter " to remove most of them.

Most of the errors have been effectively removed as expected but a sequence of 40s or even more, has been inserted too and what is surprising, is the fact that this new sequence belongs to another fixed.ts file created previously  !!!

If I replay the filtered video with TS Doctor and try  to cut it, the time counter goes from the start to the end of this new sequence witout showing any  images ( These new images are visible if I play the video with VLC for instance).

What is the explanation and what to do to avoid this ?

Thanks

Restart TS-Doctor before using the packet filter as a hotfix.

Is the new sequence from the same channel? In most cases, different channels have different PIDs and a channel switch should be detected if you load the file into TS-Doctor.

Is the new sequence added to the end or the beginning of the file?

Hi,

 * Answer :
-That new sequence has nothing to do with the video itself ( this sequence of ~30s, comes from an older  video still present on my hard disk ) . This sequence is created close ( in time ) to the reported bad areas.
        - If I restart TS-Doc before using the packet filter, I get the same problem but the new sequence is different ( comes from another older video) !

- I made some more tests which are more confusing !
1/ As I already said, when I play the whole filtered video, I can watch that new  sequence at , let's say, T = To.
2/ If I  extract ~4 minutes with Inside the reported errors and  apply packet filter, I do not have that new sequence. but VLC cannot play, only Windows Media. After retarting the PC, VLC read it ( once) and the image stops at To for ~20s but not the audio which is the repetition of the 20s before To...

 - I cannot interprate  the Log files attached to the video, so I join 4 of them just  in case :
     * wole video fixed and fixed + filtered  ( withe new sequence )
     * extract of ~ 4 minutes :  fixed and fixed + filtered ( without new sequence but other problems !)

Thanks

Very strange, I have no idea where TS-Doctor gets the additional sequence and how it's included into the file if you do a fresh start of the application.

It look like a buffer overlapping but if start a application like TS-Doctor there is no way to get a buffer problem with a file, that's not loaded by the application.

Are you sure your HDD is OK?

Hi,

- Thanks for your reply. You said strange, ( there is in a famous French old movie such expression :" vous avez dit bizarre, comme c'est bizarre..." , sure it is strange.

- The external HDD-1 (2 Go/  Western Digital )where I store a copy of most of my movies seems in good shape. I just made an analysis with Bitdefender, nothing special.

- Now, more fun:
    * test1 :  I tranferred the original file X_fixed.ts from HDD-1 to HDD-2 ( internal HDD ) . HDD-1 is still operating and I apply  "filter packet" to it. Result : I get the same additionnal sequence too ( stored on HDD-2).
note :  The sequence belongs to a video stored on HDD-1

    * test2 : I redo  test1 but with HDD-1  off. Result : I get the same filtered video with the  same additional sequence !!!

- Do the log files contain usable informations which could start to explain all this ?

-  Is there any other method, than using "filtered packet", to remove bad areas ?

Sorry, never heard auf such a problem before. It look like the file system or the file cache is mixing the files somehow but I have no idea why and how.
